The three agents that accompany them share a common passion: the amour by the dogs, his education and the training of dogs detectors, a combination that has been key for the success of this unit. All they have formed a very narrow bond with his
K9, that live with them the 24 hours of the day, combining the police work with a full familiar life of affection and cares.
During the interview, the agents explained how coaches to a dog detector. They informed us and they denied hoaxes:
to the dogs no gives them real drug, but it coaches them using cartridges or tubes that possess the smell of the real substances that afterwards can find in his day in day out of work.
The coaching bases always in the game, and the big secret is that the dog
does not look for drug, but his toy. A mordedor or special ball that only receives like reward when detecting correctly a smell. This association is the key of the success.
Also they disassembled several myths more.
They are not aggressive dogs neither impose respect by the force. On the contrary, they are
respectful, sociable and coached to work in any surroundings: parks, seasons, bars, and even beside schools and institutes, where are with small boys without causing any fear. His behaviour is always punctilious
, discreet and effective.
The day in day out of the unit no only includes presence in schools, surveillance in sensitive zones, parks, etc., but also there are coachings, games, cares and hours of rest.
Sometimes, they confront to surprising challenges: substances hid inside objects insospechados, like a
PlayStation, an
apple or even a
bocadillo. But the dogs, thanks to his prodigious smell, are able to detect
the face-to-face and residual smell, imperceptible for us.
Further of his police function, the
K9 also act like true
therapists. One of the agents related how his daughter, that before had fear to the dogs, today adores them thanks to the convivencia with
Llúria. Another shared the history of Jack
Russell jubilado that it will be homenajeado in his last exhibition. All coincide: when these dogs remove ,
remain home. Because
they are family.
Over time, the
K9 turn true experts in his work, anticipating even without explicit orders. They recognise the moment to work by the simple gesture to put them the harness, and know when is time to to rest. His welfare is
absolute priority, with veterinary reviews constants, coachings adapted and activities like
swimming in the beach to maintain his physical health.
The
Canine Unit of Viladecans is a sample of how the respect, the dedication and the amour by the animals can conjugarse with the citizen security.
Llúria, Bruc and Amber no only are dogs police: they are

big ambassadors of what represents the work in squad among humans and animal.
