Behind each worthy farewell there is a special place that make. Today we know the history of the Cemetery of Small Animals in Torrelles of Llobregat, a space devoted to the eternal rest of our dear pets.

The history of this cemetery begins with Bold, a perrita that went the engine of everything. Bold was the inseparable mate of the father of Assumpció, and when it died, decided to bury it in a field in front of his house. However, some months afterwards, the works began in that terrain and saw obliged to dig it. A fellow of the family, José, offered him a corner of his field in Torrelles of Llobregat so that it could rest in peace.
It was then when both darse that many other people could confront the same dilemma: not knowing where give sepultura to his dear pets.
Like this, in 1972, they decided to found the Cemetery of Small Animals.
The need of a place to sack to the animals of company with dignity gave origin to a project that, over time, has received to thousands of pets. Situated in some privileged natural surroundings, the cemetery offers a remanso of tranquility, surrounded of trees, rosebushes and the edge of the birds. It is a space where the peace feels in each corner and where the owners can remember to his mates with amour and serenity.
From his starts, the cemetery has evolved and today has niches, individual pits and a for hire annual system, adapting to the needs of those who look for a special place for his pets. Although in his starts only buried dogs and cats, nowadays also have found rest there rabbits, cobayas, iguanas and even symbolic elements like tails of horse, preserved in memory of these majestuosos animal.
Among the histories more conmovedoras, Assumpció counts us the one of a dog that saved to his owner in a fire, but could not rescue to his family. Since, his owner attends each week to his tomb to remember it. Another history stood out is the one of Dan, a German shepherd that rescued to more than 65 people and that today has a panteón in his honour. Even the ex-president of the Generalitat, Josep Tarradellas, planted a fir in the entrance of the cemetery like gesture of recognition to this so special space.
The cemetery is still working with the commitment to offer a worthy and respectful service. Although obtain the permissions for new cemeteries of pets is complicated in Spain, this place keeps on being a referent, together with other two existent in Madrid and Málaga. Besides, it has a common pit for those pets whose tutors can not continue with the maintenance of his niche.

It is a place where the memories interweave with the nature and where the registrations in the niches reflect the unconditional amour that the pets offer along his life.
