The agility, a sport that joins to guide and dog in an experience of learning and entertainment.

If some time have seen a competition of agility, surely have marvelled with the speed and coordination of the dogs surpassing obstacles. To deepen in this discipline, Maria José Guerrero, interview in Patito to the Air to Carles Fortuny, president of the Club Agility Ciutat Comtal of Barcelona, the one who explains us how was born this sport and which are his profits for dogs and guides.
Carles founded the club in the year 2000 with the aim to approach this practice to Barcelona and avert long scrollings to other cities. His passion by the agility began in 1995, when hardly they existed clubs in Catalonia. Since, the agility has grown exponencialmente, although it still is a little known activity by a lot of people that have dogs.

The agility is much more that a simple game; it is a sport recognised by the Catalan Federation of Agility. It combines obedience, entertainment and bond among the dog and his guide. So that it work, both have to work together, reinforcing the confidence and the connection. It does not treat alone that the dog surpass the obstacles, but that it do it following the indications of his human, always of positive and motivating way.

But, it is the agility for all? According to Carles, any dog, without importing his race or size, can practise it. They exist different categories of jump that adapt to the physiognomy of each can. This yes, the big dogs can find more defiant the sport that those smaller and light. Besides, this exercise is not exclusive of the competition; a lot of owners practise it simply like a recreational activity to strengthen the bond with his pet.

The agility also contributes big profits for the physical and mental health of the dog. No only it helps it to keep fit , but it also reduces the stress and the anxiety. The coachings have to be controlled and balanced, without spending to the dog to the exhaustion. Besides, it improves his confidence, especially in unsure dogs or miedosos. A dog that surpasses his own limits and challenges augments his self-esteem and security.

In the Club Agility Ciutat Comtal, the courses begin from zero, combining obedience and specific coachings so that so much the guide like the dog learn together. The key is the patience and the proof, without jumping stages and allowing that the dog understand and enjoy of the process. For the most experienced, the competition is an additional challenge where puts to test the rapport among dog and human.

In Barcelona, the club has his headquarters near of the INEF, in Montjuïc, with installations alfresco adapted to coach with different types of surfaces. Besides, they organise competitions and events that attract to participants of all the world.
