Ana Martínez, veterinary and director of the CAAD Penedès, counts us how can help to dogs and abandoned cats to find a home
The CAAD Penedès works untiringly by the welfare of dogs and abandoned cats, promoting the responsible adoption and the citizen awareness.
If the animals received in the CAAD Penedès could speak, surely would speak us of new opportunities, of hands that stroke them and of families that expect them. Ana Martínez, veterinary and director of the centre, has opened us the doors of this reality in Patito to the Air, explaining the indispensable work that carry to combat the abandonment and guarantee a worthy life to the domestic animals of the zone.

In the CAAD Penedès, situated in the Mancomunitat Penedès-Garraf, receive every year near of 1.700 dogs and cats that arrive in situations very diverse: stray animals, abandoned or even pertinent of cases of maltreatment. THANKS TO a committed squad, volunteers and families of received, the centre works to give them welfare until they find a definite home. Because, as recalca Ana Martínez, “the barrotes, although they are of gold, keep on being barrotes”.

The centre no only collects and takes care to the animals, but it also makes important works of sterilisation in colonies of cats and boosts the responsible adoption. The sterilisation is a fundamental pillar to brake the abandonment, since two of each four animals received in the centre are cachorros pertinent of litters no wished. Through educational programs in schools and campaigns of awareness, also struggle by inculcar the importance of the identification and the responsible tenancy.

One of the most valuable initiatives is the program of houses of received, that allows that dogs and cats with special needs or in recovery find some familiar surroundings storm. As it explains Ana, many animal blocked or in state of stress inside the centre transform in homes of received, showing his true character and facilitating his definite adoption.

For those who wish to collaborate, the CAAD Penedès offers multiple forms to do it: from the volunteering, where offers time and amour to the animals, until material donations like rugs, lunch or medicines. And although, for being a public centre, can not accept economic donations, any gesture counts to improve the quality of life of these animals.

Ana Martínez remembers us that have an animal is not a light decision. “Adopt is a commitment for all the life. They are living beings that need time, dedication and amour”. The responsible adoption no only transforms the life of an animal, also enriches the one of the people that receive them.

The CAAD Penedès is an example of how the collaboration among institutions, volunteers and citizens can generate a real change. Because each dog or cat that finds a home is a history of hope, and each endeavour counts in the fight against the abandonment.

For more information, adoptions or material collaborations, can visit his official web page or follow his social nets. Because yes to the adoption, yes to the sterilisation and yes to the commitment.
